Happy Lunar New Year and happy belated Valentine’s Day! I hope everyone came into the new year feeling loved, energized, and focused. Personally, I have a lot of ideas that I’m so excited to see to fruition in the coming months. Let’s hope the year of the horse motivates us all to go after exactly what it is that we want. I’m not one for spoiling surprises, so you’ll have to stick around to see what fun things I’m up to 😉

In a whirlwind of a week, after 5 years of existence, my Twitter/X account was deleted and then (after speedrunning every stage of grief and appealing to the tech overlords) it was reinstated a few days later. Going forward, I will still use that platform, but sparingly and in a much more vanilla way than I have before, and I will put more of my spicy content on Bluesky. You should follow both to get the full Amalia Valentine experience (and why not follow my Instagram while you’re at it). Something you learn pretty quickly in this industry is that all SWers are on borrowed time on any tech platform. Deplatforming is coming for all of us, sooner or later, so we might as well have some fun while we still have it.

Recently, I had the absolute joy of chatting with Mx Tomie on her podcast, Uncensored (the irony in the timing of this is not lost on me). Our conversation ran the gamut from the tensions of growing up as both a Catholic and a pervert, internet p0rn, censorship, having a God complex, the history of BDSM and sexuality, my organizing work, and so much more. It’s such a treat to be able to speak so openly about all of these different experiences with a fellow worker and friend, who is also a great interviewer. Watch it here!
Valentine’s Day <3
I don’t know where this meme originated, but I see it every year for Valentine’s Day and it makes me laugh. Limited time only!
My namesake day snuck up on us this year—I hope you didn’t forget to make your loved ones feel cherished, despite the chaos of, well, everything happening around us. I’ve been ruminating a lot on what it means to show up in life from a place of radical love. Everyday, I’m trying to perform a special type of alchemy in which I transmute the love I have for my friends, my subs, and myself into love for my communities (and vice versa). My life is, inherently, a relational one—for many of us, we would be nowhere without the people supporting us, from our close friends to the guys at the local bodega making our food. Now is the time to get invested in your communities—start a group chat with the folks in your building, join a neighborhood mutual aid group, befriend the postal worker that brings you your mail. Through small acts of care and compassion, we build a stronger bolster against the rising tides of fascism. If you’d like to belatedly celebrate Valentine’s Day in my honor, I would love for you to donate to either Red Canary Song or Colectivo Intercultural TRANSgrediendo, two orgs operating at the intersection of s*x work and immigrants’ rights. <3
