Adventures in Amalialand

The past month has consisted of plenty of devious play, lots of yummy food at incredible restaurants, and some fun travel, all with subs that I adore and cherish. A highlight was a trip to Providence with my good boy, where we ate our way through different cuisines (including some of the best pies I’ve ever eaten thanks to Babes Pie Co), perused museums, and dug through amazingly curated antique shops. We even stopped by the local queer-owned sex shop to pick up some kinky toys, which we put to good use. I love traveling with trusted subs and co-creating a little world away from the city that we can get lost in together—it’s some of the best quality time!

This April, I’m returning back to my scholarly roots by attending two multi-week courses: Sado-Masochism: Economies of Desire and Recognition offered by the Brooklyn Institute of Social Research and The Whore Singularity: Online sex worker rights movement histories, pornographic presents, and whoretopias offered by the School for Poetic Computation. I spent most of my life in intense academic environments, constantly measuring my self-worth against my academic success. After years away from school (and a good helping of therapy), it’s so nice to return to collaborative learning environments without the weight of grades. I’m curious to see how these courses impact my relationship to my work and to my sessions over the next few weeks. Next time you see me, feel free to ask me about my experiences taking these classes—I’m really just a big nerd at heart 🤓
